Intermediate Egret

Superficially resembles Great Egret but much smaller and has a shorter bill, more rounded head, and shorter, less distinctly kinked neck. Bill yellow, often tipped black. Unlike Great Egret, the greenish-yellow gape line does not extend behind the eye. Legs black.

Great Egret

Largest of the white egrets. Longer necked than all other egrets, and neck distinctly kinked. Non-breeding birds have yellow bill and facila skin, and black legs. Breedings birds are black-billed with bluish facial skin.

Eastern Cattle Egret

Smaller and stockier than other egrets, with relatively shorter bill and neck, often appearing hunched. Birds in breeding plumage are rufous-orange on head, neck, breast and back. Bill reddish with yellow tips, leg pinkish red. Non-breeding birds entirely white with yellow bill and facial skin, and black legs.
