Invasive and Alien Birds
The bird pet trade ensures that many wild-caught and captive-bred birds are traded in Singapore. In recent years, non-native species has risen dramatically, including various species of weavers, finches of Africa and Southeast Asia origins, and a number of parrat species. These may have originated from escaped individuals or religious delierate releases.

Bali Myna
Virtually extinct. Also known as Rothschikd's Mynah. It is almost entirely white with long head plumes and black wing tips. It has blue bare skin around the eyes, greyish legs and a yellow bill. Endemic to Bali where it was formaly ranged across the north-west third of the island, the species was never very widely distributed. Unsustainable illegal trapping in response world wide demand for cage-bird trade has driven this bird to virtual extinction in the wild. As of 2015, less than 100 adults are assumed to exist in the wild, with about 1000 believed to survive in captivity.
